Department Overview & Philosophy

The Research and Development Department aims to create interest, train, and encourage undergraduate and postgraduate students to take up research activities. Research today is increasingly a vital segment of nursing. Research orientation opens doors for expanding nursing knowledge and accelerating the career advancement of nursing professionals.

Students learn to critically appraise international scientific literature, design epidemiological surveys, conduct clinical trials, and apply statistical tools to solve real-world healthcare challenges.

Department Mission

  • To instill rigorous scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and ethical research methodologies in students and faculty, contributing meaningful findings to national and international healthcare literature.

Key Learning Goals & Specific Objectives

Students enrolled in this department achieve rigorous clinical competencies:

  • To assist and motivate novice researchers (UG students) in their research activities, holding hands throughout their journey.
  • To facilitate young researchers' dreams of finding solutions to clinical and field problems for the benefit of their clientele.
  • To conduct journal clubs regularly so as to help students develop positive attitudes towards evidence-based practice.
  • To support critical care nurse practitioners and faculty in carrying out research projects as they create evidence for the scientific community.
  • To inculcate research-mindedness among young professionals in order to anticipate and adapt to changes in healthcare delivery, technology, and diverse clientele.
  • To instill the values of research in nursing to enhance patient safety, reduce medical errors, and improve overall quality of care.

Laboratory Infrastructure & Equipment

The research department provides digital computers with high-speed internet, SPSS and statistical analysis software, access to PubMed, CINAHL, and university digital library databases, dissertation archives, and clinical audit frameworks.

Clinical Postings at We Care Multi-Speciality Hospital

Theoretical learning and simulation lab practice in this department are directly complemented by clinical rotations at our attached parent hospital, We Care Multi-Speciality Hospital. Students actively interact with patients, participate in morning clinical rounds, and observe complex cases under senior nursing supervisors.
