Department Overview & Philosophy

The Department of Obstetrical and Gynecological Nursing deals with the pre-natal, intra-natal, and post-natal periods, as well as diseases related to the female reproductive system. We conduct clinical rounds, incidental teaching, clinical demonstrations, and continuous performance evaluations.

Working in close coordination with We Care Multi-Speciality Hospital maternity wings, our students gain invaluable experience assisting normal deliveries, monitoring high-risk pregnancies, managing post-partum care, and educating mothers on newborn wellness.

Key Learning Goals & Specific Objectives

Students enrolled in this department achieve rigorous clinical competencies:

  • Excel in the education of students by allowing them to master normal labor delivery, antenatal checkups, and post-partum monitoring.
  • Foster competence in identifying obstetric emergencies, managing high-risk pregnancies, and neonatal resuscitation.
  • Conduct structured clinical rounds and evaluations in maternity wards and labor rooms.
  • Promote reproductive health awareness, family welfare planning, and lactation management in hospital and community settings.

Laboratory Infrastructure & Equipment

Equipped with birthing simulators, obstetric examination manikins, pelvic models, fetal heart monitors (Doppler and CTG), episiotomy suturing trainers, neonatal resuscitators, and family planning display exhibits.

Clinical Postings at We Care Multi-Speciality Hospital

Theoretical learning and simulation lab practice in this department are directly complemented by clinical rotations at our attached parent hospital, We Care Multi-Speciality Hospital. Students actively interact with patients, participate in morning clinical rounds, and observe complex cases under senior nursing supervisors.
